House shoes in large sizes: EU 47, 48, 50 an 51
If you wear shoe size 47 or larger, you know the problem: in many shops the range of house shoes ends at 46. What remains are models that either fit too tightly or come from the sports section and have no place in the living room. That is why we carry our house shoes and felt slippers up to size EU 51.
Which sizes we offer
Our range starts at size 36 and goes up to 51. How the sizes are divided depends on the model:
- Classic felt slippers: in double sizes up to EU 46/47 and beyond that in EU 48 as well as EU 50/51
- Felt house shoes in the Walker cut: in single sizes from EU 37 to 48 as well as in EU50 and 51
- Craftsman slippers with ABS sole: in size ranges that go up to EU 48
For double sizes such as EU 46/47: if you are between the two sizes and tend towards the smaller value, the slipper will fit comfortably. If you need the full larger size, it is better to take the next step up.
Unisex means: one size, two target groups
Our house shoes are deliberately cut unisex. This has a practical advantage: the models run continuously across the entire size range instead of ending separately in a women's and a men's line. Large sizes are therefore not a separate niche offer with us, but part of the normal range.
What to look for with large sizes
Length is not everything
Large feet are often not only longer, but also wider and higher. Make sure the slipper leaves enough room in the forefoot area. Felt has a real advantage here: the material gives slightly with wear and adapts to the shape of the foot. A new felt slipper may therefore feel a little firm at first.
The sole decides the use
For indoor use only, a felt sole is enough. If you also step outside briefly, to the letterbox or onto the terrace, you are better off with a non-slip rubber sole. With higher body weight, which often goes along with large sizes, a firmer sole additionally provides stability.
If you are between two sizes
If the slipper is half a size to almost a full size too big, a felt insole helps. It reduces the volume inside the shoe, the foot slips less and the hold improves. Our insoles are available in sizes 36 to 48 and can be trimmed with scissors. The reverse does not work: if the slipper is too small, this cannot be compensated.
Why even our large sizes are made of felt
We are a family business from Thuringia, Germany, in its third generation and have been making house shoes since 1932. Felt has remained our core material over the decades because it is breathable, keeps warmth and adapts to the shape of the foot. Exactly these properties make it the right choice for large sizes too.
Frequently asked questions
Up to which size does Pantoffelmann offer house shoes?
Our range goes from size EU 36 to size 51. Depending on the model, the sizes come as single sizes or as double sizes, for example 46/47 and 50/51.
Are felt slippers available in size EU 48?
Yes. Classic felt slippers are available in size 48, as are felt house shoes in the Walker cut. Beyond that we carry models in 50 and 51.
Are the house shoes the same for men and women?
Our house shoes are cut unisex and run continuously across the entire size range. Large sizes are therefore part of the normal range and not a separate offer.
What do I do if the house shoe is slightly too big?
A felt insole reduces the volume inside the shoe, the foot slips less and the hold improves. This works well for half a size to almost a full size of difference.
Do felt slippers run large or small?
Felt gives slightly with wear and adapts to the shape of the foot. A new pair may therefore feel a little firm at first. If you are between two sizes and choose a double size, take the larger step if your foot is wide.
