Company history
The company history begins in 1932 in the small village of Oberndorf. Founder Kurt Präßler initially made wooden slippers, from 1952 wooden buckle shoes for the regional building trade, and from 1958 the focus shifted to house slippers. Production took place in the family home, and sales were mostly regional to small shoe shops.
In 1992 the founder's son-in-law took over the business. Together with his wife he continued in-house production until 2008, selling at local markets in the Thuringian region. Since 2008 the company has been run in its third generation by Gunar Födisch in the neighbouring village. Today the Pantoffelmann team handles local and online sales of high-quality house shoes and East German heritage products.
